Two lost souls (much like the story below!) who have come together in this combination of a beautiful Woods earl grey teacup and an Alfred Meaking ironstone saucer.
The history of the pattern dates back to the 1770s and comes from a Chinese legend of 2 lovers, forbidden to marry who elope and are chased by the emperor. In the end the boy is killed and the girl commits suicide. Elements of the story in the pattern include a bridge they cross to elude pursuers, the lovers, a house they took refuge in and the two doves representing the two lovers and a symbol of undying love.
