A rare gem! This is a true favourite of mine and I snapped it up very quickly when I found it. Manufactured by Wileman & Co (the precursors to Shelley), the plate is in the 'Daisy' shape, and the bowl is possibly 'Alexandra' shape and both are in 'Jungle Print'. They date from the late Victorian period (1888 onwards). Although the print has faded slightly in the middle of the plate, the pattern around the edge is still distinct and still very vivid on the bowl. They both have the pottery marks and are both free of any chips or cracks.
I haven't seen the glorious purple colour before. Most sets come as a plate with tea cup and saucer, or with a sugar bowl, but this bowl is bigger and incredibly rare. A real find!
